Howard Dean is an idiot
Posted by: daveynyc | Apr 18, 2008 4:30:36 PM
DAVEYNYC,
Until we have a nominee, Dean, Pelosi & Reid are the leaders of the Democratic Party. This "idiot's" opinion matters very much at this stage of the primary game.

yeah, CB, i was confused by that too. maybe it was included because Andy likes to post youtube videos in groups of four, and he needed a space-filler.

I agree that a candidate must be agreed upon soon, and, regretfully, if it's Obama, so be it.
As for the debate, the fact remains that the firestorm about it was lit by Obamabot arsonists enraged that the ABC anchors didn't, as usually happened, take turns going down on their Saint.
Posted by: Michael Bedwell | Apr 18, 2008 4:43:32 PM
Michael Bedwell, not that it matters, but many of the people criticizing AGC don't support Obama. Including Pat Buchanan, who doesn't exactly share the same political ideals as Obama. Of course, anyone with an IQ over thirty would know that what ABC did isn't the definition of a debate. Or, least would at know that the questions asked were not the ones that people need to know when deciding on a president.

Obamabot Arsonists
Oooooh, I just found the name of my next science fiction novel.

I take a tea bath about once a week.
:-)
Herbalists have known about the benefits of caffeine on the skin for millenia. The ancient chinese recomended such.
Science sometimes thinks it takes a step foreword when in fact it is only repeating three giant leaps from the past.

PS
Boys, save your tea bags and toss them in the fridge. When you need to get rid of baggy eyes just pull 2 out and put them on your eyes for a few minutes. The tanic acid and caffeine gets rid of puffiness and it is a soothing pick me up while delaying those crows feet.
All you late night bar hoppers need that tip

As I said yesterday, this format isn't a debate. Most of the 23 **debates** the networks have had this year haven't been even close to a debate.
As to ABC and the way this gathering was handled.....well, most of the screaming, wailing and teeth knashing is coming from Obamabots. Afew pot stirer's like Buchannon have joined in, but most long time political editors and columnists are on board with what happened. Because this is important.....since Clinton and Obama only disagree in nuance on most of the big and small issues, why spend 2 hours boring the voters to death with a repeat of stump speech lines on all those issues.
This got some questions that Obama has not properly answered out on the table. If he thinks he's going to pout all the way through the General election and not have to HONESTLY explain some of the things he's done and said, he better wake up and smell the coffee. The Republicans aren't fellow Democrats who will play nice(and this fight so far hasn't even come close to being nasty, no matter what the candidates and media say, just look back at the last 6 elections and find out)and the Republicans won't care if Obama's feelings are hurt.
McCain will fight an honest, aboveboard fight on the issues, but all those groups out there that he can't control won't.
Just to show you how much Obama is a wimp.....he's now threatning to opt out of the remaining debates. I find it interesting that the last news conference he had, he walked out of after 8 questions were asked because reporters actually had the balls to ask him tough questions about Rezco and Wright, and the first time in 24 debates he isn't fawned upon by the media butt kissers and asked tough questions he wants to take his ball and run home. The guy is defining himself to the voters as scared of real questions, and basically a wimp, cry baby. He and his obamabots scream **racist** anytime he gets pinned down on something that makes him look bad, but then his people and him smear the other candidates freely without so much as a pause.
A Liberal reporter asked him after the debate....***Senator, why did you condemn Imus for being a racist, but only say Jimmy Carter is misquided for talking to a man who has killed American citizens** Obama stormed off.....
When he ran for the Senate, his opposition(and the favorite to win) in the primary self destructed because of a sexual scandle. Then his opposition in the general election, who also was way ahead in the polls had his messy divorce papers released and he had to drop out. So Obama has never faced real opposition in any election. He's playing with the big boys now and he had better get off his ass and start acting like he's a an American pretty soon or he and Michelle will just have to keep living in that 1.6 million dollar home on their paltry 5 million a year.

Joshua
"he's now threatning to opt out of the remaining debates"
There are no other debates scheduled.
NEITHER campaign has put foreword a proposal for any more debates.
No need to add misinformation to an already tense political season for both candidates' supporters.
Posted by: Jimmyboyo | Apr 18, 2008 5:48:57 PM
Jimmyboyo....there was a tentative agreement for a North Carolina debate and possibly one for Indiana....Clinton hd already made a firm commitment to the N.C. one and Obama had said yes...but hadn't made it formal. Yesterday he announced he probably wouldn't participate.
I read 60 to 80 political sites a day. I know whats up and whats not. Maybe you should check a few.
Posted by: Joshua | Apr 18, 2008 8:32:09 PM
JOSHUA, you obviously don't check all the ones that have shown how Hillary has NO chance of winning the nomination. Or the ones that show that Obama has, in the last week alone, had a net gain of 9 Superdelegates to Clinton's net loss of one. Obama picked up two more today, along with three additional high level endorsements. Or the ones that show Obama has opened up a NINETEEN point lead in the national polls. Or the ones that show that Obama got a bump from the debate. Or the ones that show that Obama is now seen by Democrats, by a significant margin, as the strongest candidate for the general election. Or the ones that show that Democrats more and more starting to feel that Clinton is dishonest and feeling that the Clinton campaign is using Rove-like campaign tactics more and more as she falls further and further behind.
Senator Clinton can't afford another debate. Even with the full on attack on Obama in the ABC fiasco, ABC viewers polled said that Obama won by a 2-1 margin and the bump for him in the polls bears that out. I really don't know why you would be clamoring for another debate for Hillary.

Zeke,
for starters, simply go to realclearpolitics.com to see that one newsweek poll you're referencing. the same newsweek poll shows both obama and hillary beating mccain by 4 points. so for all the gap he has on her in the dem nomination, he isn't making up much ground against mccain v. her. this essentially says that he loses her supporters when she's out of the race and he's the nominee. OR that those who support him would support her to the same degree in the general.
she's also polling much better than obama in missouri, ohio and florida.
i'm sorry, but if i were a super, my concern would be who can win in november and it's clear the road to victory is shorter with her as the nominee.
oh and if howard dean isn't careful he's going to help push a lot of her support out of the democratic party, me included. i'm at my wit's end with his and nancy pelosi's behavior. they chose this ridiculous format of selecting a nominee for this cycle (why the hell can't we rid ourselves of caucuses and a concrete schedule with iowa and NH going first????) so they need to shut up and live with it. If they keep pushing supers to "end this" before states have had a chance to give their voice, they can FORGET me supporting this party in November.

Oh and Hillary pulled ahead of Obama in Gallup's daily poll, first time in a month and she's now further ahead against McCain than Obama in that poll.
Posted by: Banne | Apr 19, 2008 5:56:38 PM
So how's your post-debate analysis now? You trust an ABC poll after the wonderful job they did with the debate? Of course Obama won some online poll. He's won every single one of them on every website this entire campaign. Get your heads out of the internet and realize most voters are as wired into this as you are.

Not so fast there joshua
Turns out
that Clinton originaly refused a debate
http://dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/4/19/172816/498/232/499125
because she claimed it was passover and would not be right to have a debate when Jewish Dems would be away from Tvs. Thus the other date was set that Obama has not comited to
Turns out though that Hillary isn't observing Passover herself. She is campaigning in PENN
You can't have it both ways.

Sure you can Jimmy. She never said you can't campaign to Gentiles over Passover. She isn't Jewish, are you advocating she should stay home? Please.
Daily Kos and Arianna Huffington are the death of the Democratic Party, I'm convinced. They are becoming nearly as useful as Ann Coulter is to the right.
Thank God there is at least one candidate out there who realizes MOST of America doesn't view things through the Huffington lens.

Banne
Hillary said she wouldn't have a debate because of passover. She then goes and campaigns all the while the same Jewish Constituents she claimed would miss the debate are missing her campaigning.
The point is that she didn't want to leave Pennsylvania and debate in NC till Penn was over.
Daily Kos has been part of registering unprecendented numbers of voters for the dems, seen grass root supported candidates elected in 2006 vs Rahm Emanuel's plan of only trying for a few seats, as well as seen unprecedented fundraising numbers from small donors that has been the death knell of the DLC big donnor party.
You'll come around and we will gleefuly go after McCain soon. I look foreword to it.

Jimmyboyo:
You know, I stopped reading a lot of the posts on here because it was just infuriating me to no end and the very thought of having to vote for the Illinois Senator made me sick. It still does. So, I went to read some other blogs that were a little more Hillary friendly.
While at first I couldn't be happier than a kid in a candy store, it also got to be a little too much for me. Not nearly as bad as The Huff or Daily Kos being so pro the other guy, but it does make me wish that there were a site that could discuss the issues in an unbiased and balanced manner.
I, personally, don't need the other candidate trashed or a Hillary parade 24/7 (I'd be willing to rest on the weekends. lol) to feel better about the situation. Some honest reporting alone would suffice. Unfortunately, I think that we're a little too far past that. Then again, maybe I'm wrong (ouch).
So, while I understand liking the Daily Kos for what you described, you can't really say it's fair and balanced, can ya? (really, I'm asking.)
( I addressed you simply because I felt comfortable doing so without questioning your rationale)
Oh, and if I may make a suggestion...
"You'll come around and we will gleefuly go after McCain soon. I look foreword to it." ... not so helpful. LOL
But, that's just me. hehe.
On a lighter note - I hope you had a good weekend. Oh, and I thought that tea suggestion was too cute ;)
(do ya really take tea baths?)

:-)
DKos being good? = YES
Dkos being balanced? = Not so much
I see what you mean about what I said not being helpful.
I totaly didn't mean it in such a condescending way when I wrote that line.
Thanks for pointing that out.
The best place to read unbiased political info is the BBC.

Anyone who tells someone WHEN to place their vote is a moron. Would Howard Dean like to tell the supers WHO to vote for as well?
